Custom exercise and stretching programs help the body heal after an injury:
Exercises may vary and change from patient to patient, but the goal is always the same. The aim of a rehabilitation program is to regain pre-injury levels in all aspects of physical fitness. Correction of muscle imbalance problems around the shoulder, hip or knee are addressed effectively with exercise rehabilitation guided by a trained professional. Core stability muscles are also an important part of the treatment of chronic lower back pain.
A full rehabilitation and strengthening program is essential to ensure full recovery and in order to prevent further injury. These exercises sometimes include muscle stretching, joint mobility exercises or muscle strengthening exercises. A rehabilitation and strengthening program is essential to ensure full recovery and in order to prevent re-injuries.
Benefits of exercise rehabilitation:
- Reduces or eliminates pain
- Can help avoid surgery
- Improves mobility
- Recover from or prevent sports injuries
- Improves balance
- Manages diabetes and vascular conditions
- Helps manage and prevent health issues due to aging.
Exercise rehabilitation helps to improve flexibility and balance:
Flexibility is the ability to extend or stretch without breaking. The term is usually used to describe muscles but can also be used to describe a movement involving a number of muscles. Along with physiotherapy building muscle strength and aiding in recovery, these exercises can also improve flexibility, a vital part of maintaining a sound body. Balance can be difficult for the body after time, regardless if you are injured or not, the body sometimes works to compensate for weak areas, ultimately throwing the body off-balance just from daily activities.
Physiotherapy treatment modalities used at York Chiropractic:
We utilize gentle, low force techniques to align the spine and improve overall nervous system function to alleviate pain and boost immunity. The doctors at our facility practice both manual adjustments and the activator method. The activator method utilizes a small, hand-held device that has much less force than the standard chiropractic adjustment.
We have therapists that are trained to aide in chiropractic care by providing massage techniques to increase circulation and reduce pain.
An excellent way to help with muscle spasms in the body. This therapy is well known to help numb painful areas as well as provide a cooling relief to affected soft tissues. The therapy consists of applying cold compresses on to the skin to effectively reduce the temperature of the skin as well as constrict the blood vessels in the area.
Ultrasound therapy is utilized in the office to handle injuries related to joints, muscle spasms, as well as most soft tissues. While it shares the same name, this ultrasound is not the same as the type of ultrasound utilized diagnostically to screen internally in the body. This ultrasound creates small sound waves that in effect vibrate and massage soft tissues and muscle. These sound waves do an excellent job in facilitating the body’s healing process in addition to decreasing scar tissue formation.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Is an exceptional way to help the body in the healing process. This is accomplished by sending a very small electrical current into the affected soft tissue injury or muscle spasm. The therapy utilizes this current in an effort to help reduce swelling and release trigger points that may have the muscle locked up. It does this by helping the body to release natural relievers of pain often referred to as endorphins.
Custom Foot Orthotics
Orthotics are a great way to help with issues related to walking and alignment. Some of these include but are not limited to knee, foot and lower back pain. The need for orthotics is often related to an issue with the natural functioning of the foot. Orthotics will often help to realign the bones within the foot and ankle and therefore take pressure of other parts of the body such as the back, neck, shoulders and hips. In addition, orthotics will help with distributing your weight properly and take further pressure off of toes, bunions and other parts of the foot.

After seeing Many Doctors countless hours of PT … 700.00 knee brace a 300.00 insert for my shoes … they told me surgery was the next thing for that foot, my friend told me I think that Dr. Connley can help you .. ill admit it I’m not much for chiropractors ….i walked into the office with every MRI CT and surgery record and a Regular x ray … trust me there was a ton of stuff .. I laid on the table, Dr CONNLEY took one look at me on table and said your hips are out of line <way out> one foots longer then the other that’s why i needed a shoe insert. My foot was trying to raise arch to fix that … my knee was popping and letting go needed the knee brace to stabilize …legs weren’t same length did the foot Dr or the knee Dr even check that? NO… Dr. Connley has done amazing things align my legs hips back n body … Thank you is not even close to enough.. 2 years my body was out of line,Dr. Connley is steadily working on my hips and back to get it to stay aligned ,, What I went through before York Chiropractic, was grueling painful unstable body wise … has all been turned around ..THANK YOU YORK CHIROPRACTIC !!

Thanks, Dr. Chris & Dr. Beth !
I suffered for 23 years with daily headaches and migraines at least twice per week. This caused me to become a single mom of 2 young boys and having to move in with relatives. I could not keep a job, due to the frequent sick days. I went to every doctor, neurologist, neurosurgeon, and naturopath seeking relief. I was told it was all in my head, NO KIDDING! It was not until I met Dr. Connolly and got under care that the headaches stopped. I now have a full time job, not needing to take sick days I live in my own house and I’m not on any meds, thanks to Chiropractic and Dr. Connolly.
I came crawling in to Dr. Connolly, mainly to appease my wife, with extreme low back pain and pain down my left leg. I was miserable. the orthopedic surgeon wanted me to wait 6 weeks more for surgery, the cortisone injections were not helping. Dr. Connolly reveiwed my MRI’s and Xrays, explained to me what was wrong, which no one else did, and very gently put me back in shape. I did not go back for the surgery, lost the extra weight I was carrying, and have told all of my coworkers, at the fire house, that Dr. Connolly’s office is where you need to go, we all have low back problems
I can live without pain!
My 6 year old daughter was riding her 2 wheeler, lost control and hit the back of a parked car. She was thrown forward slamming her pelvic area into the handle bars and banged her head on the trunk. She was bruised everywhere. She immediatly developed severe headaches, and started to wet her self throughout the day and night. The pediatrician said to give it time and it should correct itself, but it went on for a month. My co worker said that Dr. Connolly was treating her daughter for headaches and scoliosis but didnt tell him about the bed wetting, because she was 13 and embarrassed. He helped all of her issues as well as the bed wetting, though he didn’t know that until they told him. After hearing that, I brought my 6 yr old to Dr. Connolly and in a few short visits, her pain and wetting stopped. Now we all go to Dr. Connolly because as he puts it ” if you have a brain and spine and want to be well, you need a Chiropractor to stay that way.
I learned the little things help a lot when it comes to back and neck pain.
I have scoliosis and it helps me feel good after I get adjusted!
I have had a lot of TMJ pain for the last few years. Getting adjusted reduces the pain and I don’t have to take any medcations!
